The Revival of ARTONE: A Story of Vision, Persistence, and Community

Since 2012, Mukt has quietly carried a powerful vision — to revive and reopen ARTONE, the only KGCE-approved art school in all of Wayanad district, which had been closed since 2010. What began as a simple sketch on paper soon evolved into a dream: to create a sanctuary where art, education, and community could thrive together.

But the journey was never easy.

Years went by—marked by setbacks, doubts, and detours. Yet the dream endured. It matured with time, deepened through experience, and found new strength in each challenge. Along the way, Mukt came to a realization: bringing ARTONE back to life wasn’t just about securing approvals or funds — it was about people.

It was always about community.

In May 2025, after completing the Social Entrepreneurship Program at CCSF, Mukt knew it was time to stop waiting. Armed with new tools, real-world strategies, and a renewed sense of purpose, he made a bold commitment: to reopen ARTONE before the start of the 2025–26 school year.

He returned to his roots — determined, hopeful — and began again.
But this time, he didn’t go alone.

He reached out to the community — educators, artists, visionaries, and friends. A small but passionate team began to take shape. And piece by piece, what once felt like a distant hope began to feel real.

As the June deadline approached, Mukt worked tirelessly.
He asked for help. He listened. He built.
The support came slowly at first. The dream was big, and the obstacles were many.

Then came May 31st — with one final challenge, it was hard but need to overcome and finally.

on June 2nd, something shifted.

A team arrived. Not just volunteers, but people with purpose — aligned in heart and vision. They didn’t just assist; they took ownership. With open minds and willing hands, they brought rhythm, energy, and structure. It was as if the dream had called them in, and they answered.

From that moment on, ARTONE began to breathe on its own.

What once lived solely in Mukt’s heart was now alive in others — shared, supported, and strengthened. The school was no longer an idea. It was becoming. It was real.

Because the right people arrived at the right time.
Because dreams, when held long enough with love, attract the hands meant to build them.

This journey exemplifies the transformative power of persistence — how a deeply personal vision, when paired with community effort, can become a shared legacy. It reminds us of a timeless truth: educational institutions thrive when they’re rooted in collective ownership.

The revival of ARTONE is not just about reopening a school.
It’s the beginning of a movement — a space where imagination is nurtured, tradition is honored, and generations are inspired through creativity, courage, and community.

June 3, 2025 — The Unstoppable Team Takes Over.

A powerful moment at the new ARTONE building

A selfy Captured by Majeed V.K. (MD) at the new ARTONE building, alongside Principal Jaison Kuzhiveli, Jills Vellamunda, and Umesh Vismayam—this photo marks the day momentum became unstoppable, and the dream took root in reality.

The Picture That Changed Everything.

On June 2nd, standing on the land that had waited so long to become ARTONE, a moment was captured—forever. The photo, taken by Jills Vellamunda, with Umesh Vismayam send me on my whatsApp., for me it is not just an image. It is a confirmation.

That moment whispered: “This is it. now I can move and make this happen".
All the searching, the struggles, the years of dreaming—suddenly felt aligned.

From that point on, I knew in my heart: ARTONE is re-born.
And this land—rich with stories, spirit, and silence—will be remembered not just for what it is, but for what it will give to human history for generations to come.

The Day - vision met action.

The Sixer Team — The Force Behind the Dream

We are strong believers in the power of teamwork.
We’re not just collaborators—we are old friends, we are family, who brought together by trust, shared values, and a common dream.

Each one of us brings something unique to the table, but it’s our unity, laughter, late nights, and mutual respect that made this venture possible. Together, we turned a vision into reality—brick by brick, step by step.

This is The Sixer Team—the hands, heart and soul behind the rebirth of ARTONE.

New founders statement

Mukt Mukh San Francisco.

Why I’m Doing This?

I am doing this because I believe creativity is not a luxury — it is a right.

Because I’ve seen what happens when a child discovers their own voice through art —
how their world opens, how they begin to dream differently,
how they start believing they belong.

I am doing this because real change begins quietly
in classrooms, in community halls, in forgotten corners
where someone dares to imagine something better.

I am doing this because Wayanad has waited long enough.
Because we already have the talent, the culture, and the will.
We just need the space.
